You've probably seen us talking about it on Twitter, but just in case you've missed it (and if you have, that probably means you aren't following us, which means you should click that link and press the follow button), we are headed to Bonnaroo this year, and we are pretty damn excited about it, especially now that the schedule has been posted.
Ruckus kid Kenzie and I will be there with cameras and iPhones in tow to bring you highlights and recaps like only The Ruckus can (mostly drunk and with very little control). Kenzie has already bought a pair of Crocs, so you know we'll be the most happening babes in Centeroo. This is also your official invitation to come say hi if you see us - just look for the unwashed girls with the Ruckstache and the bright purple crocs.
I'll be driving to Nashville from Florida with my friend Issa, where we'll meet Kenzie at the seediest hotel money can buy. We'll spend an evening in my favorite city in the world before driving into Manchester on Thursday morning, or whenever our hangovers permit.
This is the first in a series of preview posts that we'll be bringing to you in the weeks leading up to Bonnaroo, starting with our ultimate favorites in pop/electro from the Bonnaroo lineup.
I know there's a lot of buzz about Eminem and Lil Wayne making appearances this year, but I couldn't care less. I'm completely stoked on Bassnectar and can't wait to revel in the grimy beauty of his dubstep mastery. YES.
Explosions In The Sky have been known to make me a little weepy, especially with tracks like "First Breath After Coma". Their new album, Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is just stunning. I hope my friends don't mind me crying all over them.
Sleigh Bells
Having just seen Sleigh Bells slaughter St. Pete with their immense brand of noise pop, I cannot wait to see them do it again, this time in front of a massive festival crowd. Faces. Melted.
I have had an intense love for Matt & Kim ever since they took all of their clothes off in Times Square in the dead of winter, so even though I'll be seeing them live here the week following Bonnaroo, I still can't wait to get jiggy with them at the fest.
I adore Freelance Whales. Did you know they got together via, like, Craigslist? That's bravery for you. Since then they've toured with Tokyo Police Club and Foals, which is a pretty big step up from busking, if you ask me.
The Ruckus loves Tristen's brand of folk-pop, so we try not to miss a show or a chance to fangirl; an obvious must-see.
Watch this space! We'll have more Bonnaroo goodness for you in the weeks to come.
