Kate Nash announces new album release date and free download

Plus tracklisting of second album revealed

Kate Nash has announced the release date and tracklisting of her second album, plus details of a free download.

The as-yet-untitled album will be released on April 19. It will feature 12 songs, including opener 'You'll Never Listen', 'Kiss That Girl', 'Later On' and 'Pickpocket'.

From tonight (February 11) a song from the album, 'I Just Love You More', is available to download free from her official website, Katenash.co.uk.

The album was produced by former Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. Its first single will be 'Doo Wah Doo', set for release on April 12. [cribbed from NME]

Metric Help Haiti Campaign (Update)

We recently posted about Metric's contribution to the Haiti relief effort via sales of a specially designed t-shirt. Sadly, they've had a bit of backlash over the design, and we've just received the following update from the band:

Hello all,

Over the past few days, we have come to realize that some people found the wording of our Help Haiti t-shirt design to be questionable. Despite our good intentions, we can see how the messaging could be interpreted in a way different than we intended, and we apologize to anyone who took offense.

Moving forward, we will continue with the campaign, as Haiti will still need our assistance and donations long after the telethons and fundraisers are out of the news. We have however come up with a new, simple ribbon-design t-shirt in place of the original version which will be available here.

Anyone who has already bought a t-shirt will have the choice of keeping their original purchase, or selecting this new version instead. We will contact purchasers individually in the coming days in order to determine your preference.

We appreciate the dialogue and urge you to contribute to this campaign or others that are making an effort to help a country in need.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has participated in the Help Haiti t-shirt campaign so far. We have already raised thousands of dollars that will go toward aiding those dealing first-hand with this catastrophic event.

The Ruckus Gives Back: Hope for Haiti

On January 12, 2010 at 4:53 pm, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti just 10 miles west of Porte-au-Prince and its 2 million inhabitants. Hundreds of thousands of people are dead, and another 3 million people are in dire need of emergency aid.

Along with all of us here at The Ruckus, many of you have already donated. We want to keep giving on an even larger scale, and we want to get as many people involved as possible, so we need your help. All it will cost you is the click of a button, an email to some friends, a link on Facebook, and a Tweet or two.

Over the next week, we will donate $1 (USD) to The Red Cross for every new subscriber to The Ruckus, and .10 (USD) for every new Twitter follower.

Welcome to The Ruckus

So, hey. American Indie is now The Ruckus. We're still the music blog you've come to love tenderly, but with a new name and a bit of a twist. Consider it our holiday present to you.

We're still working out the kinks, so you'll notice missing images and possibly even bouncing email (you can remedy that by emailing Melanie at melanie@whatstheruckus.com and Tiffiny at tiffiny@whatstheruckus.com), but we'll have that sorted over the next couple of days. It wasn't supposed to be this way, we promise, but the internet had other ideas.

It's an appropriate beginning, we feel.

Telluride Bluegrass Festival 2010

We are incredibly excited about the announcement of the preliminary Telluride Bluegrass Festival 2010 lineup. Especially American Indie Favorites Josh Ritter as well as Mumford and Sons.

This all takes place June 17-20. Four day passes are available now. Single day passes will become available in the spring. For those of you who have never attended, this is an amazing experience. The festival grounds are just as amazing as they look.
