Record Review: Reviving Cecilia – Thin Air
Written by Tiffiny // February 17, 2012 // Features, Records // No comments
The heart of Reviving Cecilia is the dual vocals of Connie Hong and Ali Goosens- their voices blend together so well I’d believe they were sisters. The singing alone is to die for, but the keyboard-driven accompaniment makes up the entire ethereal picture that is Reviving Cecilia.
A couple days ago I received their newest effort, the Thin Air EP and I’ve been listening to all five tracks on repeat since. As you can tell from my gushing, I really like it. It’s a solid collection, not a bad one in the bunch. I mentioned the keyboards and vocals, but the rhythm is also something to note. The percussion is creative and irresistible. I admire that each song goes through an evolution of sorts, growing and flowing into almost a second track. It’s very unexpected and refreshing. Reviving Cecilia is not predictable.
