30 Days of Covers: Dancing In the Dark

07 This is one of my favorite covers of all time. First of all, Bruce Springsteen is always, always relevant: an epic force of music. I expect a lot of the artists I love to cover him- from Josh Ritter to Frank Turner, but Tegan and Sara were a surprise. But it just goes to show how wide Springsteen’s influence is.

I also particularly enjoy Tegan and Sara’s take on “Dancing In the Dark” because it gets down to the darker roots of the song. Whereas the original comes off as a pop song, this version embellishes the heartbreaking lyrics in a stripped down, acoustic session.

We used to chase my mom around the house and turn off all the lights when she listen to this song.
