Kathleen Edwards is one of a small group of strong female folk singers that I can never get enough of. As cliché as it sounds, and despite what Luke Doucet said on Q last night about the typical folk singer-songwriter being “a solipsistic little ball of selfness in the corner,” I often hear myself in her lyrics. Edwards is a brilliant songwriter with a generous stage presence, and her first album in four years is already proving a big favorite for the year. “Change The Sheets” is from that album, titled Voyageur, out January 17th.
