Snow Patrol – Fallen Empires

I have a long history of loving Snow Patrol. Their last three albums are part of my perpetual soundtrack and I loved them from the first listen. That being said, Fallen Empires was a grower. I started listening to it at the end of 2011 when my head was all wrapped up in “Best Of” lists instead of being open to anything new. It took me a few go-arounds before it sunk in; but sure enough, it did. I found the lyrics settling into me, the atmosphere of Fallen Empires taking over.
Snow Patrol frontman, Gary Lightbody, went through each track on the album and gave a bit of a back story on each track which you can read here at Billboard. I love, love, love getting the perspective of the artist on their work- it’s a huge part of what inspires me to do this site. Fallen Empires features impressive guest spots from Owen Pallett, Lissie, and Michael Stipe.
Snow Patrol also just announced a great big North American tour that I cannot wait for, including a stop in Denver on April 27th at the Fillmore. For a full list of dates, visit SnowPatrol.com.
