New Track Love: Youth Mass – Wide Eyes

Youth Mass topped my list of new favorite bands last year, in part because they speak to the secretly emotional side of me who wells up like a teenager over earnest lyrics and heart-wrenching melodies. The more public part of me really digs them because they are extremely solid on every level. I was sold last year and I remain sold today. Last week, the band released their first official single, “Wide Eyes,” and it is just gorgeous, a sweeping narrative underscored by what I’ve come to expect from the Irish lads (who so impressed Ruckus favorites The Naked and Famous that they were asked to support the band during the Irish leg of their tour last year) – the perfect indie rock melody, breathtaking and emotional and charming – “Wide Eyes” is aptly titled.
