I’m one of those girls who started listening to Ani DiFranco in high school (and whose life was changed by her music), way back in the ’90s. I can still be found singing at the top of my lungs to “Two Little Girls” and “Loom” and “Untouchable Face” and “As Is,” and, and, and, forever. My history with music vibrates to the sound of her guitar. Her lyrics are as much a part of my makeup as any book I’ve read.
No one has ever quite measured up to Ani, and I don’t think they ever will. What I’m getting at with all this emotional overflow is that she has a new album coming out on January 17 called ¿Which Side Are You On?, and here’s a track that you can stream from the album called “Mariachi”. It’s perfect.
