The Promise Ring Tweet, Tour, and Unbreak My Heart

I’ve been processing the news that The Promise Ring are back ever since they tweeted a tentative “hello” on Friday. At first I didn’t believe it, primarily because of Davey Von Bohlen’s assertion last year that a Promise Ring tour would be the “last of all logical steps”. But now there are confirmed tour dates in Milwaukee and Chicago and my heart is beating a little faster. I may have spent the weekend dancing around my apartment, singing Make Me a Mix Tape; after all, college-me never really stopped believing that one day they’d make sweet, sweet music together again.

The clues keep coming – more tweets, and yesterday, this:

I don’t care what it is, as long as it means that The Promise Ring are back (back in my life – they never left my heart). Maybe they’re only coming back for a minute. Maybe the two planned dates won’t turn into anything so spectacular that they’ll end up in central Florida, but honestly and in the most corny way possible, I’m just happy they stuck around.
