Heaven Adores You (an Elliott Smith project)
There is very little that I can say about Elliott Smith that hasn’t already been said. He was born, his music changed the world, and then he died – far too soon. The in-between is sometimes wonderful, sometimes heartbreaking, but always beautiful when written out and played in the way that only Elliott could. His death affected me in a way that no musician’s ever has; October 21 frequently passes without a mention from me – not because I’ve forgotten, but because the memory is a painful one, and I suspect that I’m not alone. Elliott Smith set the bar, and for many of us, it hasn’t been raised since.
But that’s not what this is about, not really. This is about a celebration of Elliott Smith’s life, and how as fans we all need to come together to make sure that this project is funded.
Go and read the project’s back story here. While you’re there, kick in a few bucks – as of now, its just under halfway there, and as with any Kickstarter, if the project isn’t fully funded by the December 19th deadline, it won’t receive any of its funding. Pledge a dollar, pledge ten, pledge $25, pledge $100; whatever you donate, it all seems like such a small price to pay to see a good Elliott Smith documentary come to life. By donating, you’re becoming part of something bigger, and helping Nickolas Rossi keep Elliott’s memory alive.
