Chautauqua Auditorium | Boulder, Colorado | 20 July 2011 | Full SetAs it goes every couple of months, I am set to see Josh Ritter again this weekend, so it’s about time I posted the pictures from the last show. This show was a bit of a different set up than I’m used to- Chautauqua is a lovely venue, but it’s very seated and very formal (for the type of places I frequent). Despite it being both seated and one level, we were sequestered to the sound board because of Cheryl’s fire-hazard of a wheelchair. However, Cheryl and I were prepared to rock out from as far back as we could go. The beautiful and talented Jen Ray, who has been following Josh’s tour across the northeast, joined us all the way from New York City.

For tracks like “The Curse”, which I could reflect on for hours, the seated, quiet atmosphere was nice. During more energetic numbers like “Lantern”, I couldn’t (and didn’t) stay still.

Overall, the set had a sublime flow (just look at this list!). Josh’s gorgeous music carried Boulder into a perfect evening, full of great friends and great music.
