Introducing of Verona: Lush, Cinematic Indie Rock

of Verona are one of those bands. You know the kind – you’re innocently surfing the ‘net, not looking for anything in particular (or you’re at a party, or in someone’s car) and you hear a track that takes your breath away and makes you want to know what you’re listening to right then so that you can go home and find everything they’ve ever done. If you’re anything like me, the next step is finding out when they’re on tour and then weeping hot, bitter tears because they’re avoiding central Florida.

Anyway, the point is that of Verona are one of the best new bands I’ve heard in years. They’ve drawn comparisons to Florence and the Machine and Metric, and it’s easy to see why; Mandi Perkins (former Sony solo artist and LA dweller by way of Canada) rocks shimmery, practically visceral vocals that wrap around the equally intense talent of Dillon Pace, Jeff Sojka, and Jacob Fatoorechi, the gentlemen who make up the rest of the band. They have their rock & roll swagger down to a science, and seem poised to take on the world.

They’ve just finished recording their debut EP, Fall Like Roses, which they are currently giving away on their Facebook. Guys, I am really, really excited about this band. Go get their EP and be excited with me.

Not convinced yet? Check out the album preview video here, then stream the tracks below. If that doesn’t turn you into a fan, then there is very little hope for your taste in music.

of Verona are one of my VERY favorite bands.
I’ve seen Mandi Perkins a couple dozen times.

Funny how I didn’t look to see who wrote this post, but when I got to the line: “Guys, I am really, really excited about this band.” I said aloud to myself, “Mel had to have written this.” So to join Melanie in her excitedness, I’m a new of Verona fan.

This is why I keep on reading you.
Yet another band I knew nothing at all about and now I have the fantastic download in my iTunes.
    Thank you.
