Songs for the Rapture

Did you know that “raptured” can be used as a verb? That is one of the many exciting facts that I’ve learned due to heightened awareness from the upcoming rapture. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but Denver is on alert. I have seen three vans driving around downtown advertising the May 21st rapture and a handful of billboards. I’ve personally been procrastinating at work, because, what’s the point if the world as we know it is going to end Saturday? Anyway, to help you prepare, here’s a playlist to accompany the end.
U2 – Until the End of the World
I am, in fact, seeing U2 on the big day. I’ve obviously chosen this one for the title, but the themes in Christianity work well, too. I hope that people start being lifted up to the skies during the show. It will make for an impressive set.
U2 – Until the End of the World
The Cure – A Strange Day
In addition to being a fabulous song, I once read this track was about the end of the world. Whether that is true or not, that’s how I’ve interpreted it since. The Cure are a bit known for their dreary views, therefore a shoe-in for everyone’s rapture playlist.
Elvis Perkins in Dearland – Doomsday
This is such a good tune. It celebrates the end of days in a more upbeat fashion. Plus I feel like it gives this list major indie cred.
Elvis Perkins In Dearland – Doomsday
Frank Turner – The Ballad of Me and My Friends
I chose this track for the line “And we’re definitely going to hell” because that’s how I see this all ending for me.
Frank Turner – The Ballad Of Me And My Friends
The Rapture – Heaven
You really didn’t think I was going to get through this list without being meta like that, did you?
