El Rey Theatre | Los Angeles, CA | 15 May 2011 | Full Set
Psychedelic rockers The Black Angels made a stop at Los Angeles’s El Rey Theatre this past Sunday on their current tour. With trippy lighting and stage decor to match the band’s fuzzy, tripped-out 60s drones, the Black Angels took the crowd through a great set of its warped, garagey tunes.
The band is on tour in support of their latest, the groovy Phosphene Dream, and focused mainly on that release. When the Black Angels went into the title track during the encore, the crowd erupted into a joyous release. A release the crowd felt on the edge of through the whole show, waiting for just the right moment to open up.
