Pearl Street Music and Arts Festival
First of all, the weather couldn’t have been nicer for my foray into festival season. For those of you who dwell in a more normal climate, Colorado sees snow into mid May, so one never knows this time of year. But, as I said, the weather cooperated and made for a gorgeous night that it was a pleasure to be outside in.
I arrived at the Boulder Theater just in time for Gregory Alan Isakov‘s set. Gregory’s music is stunning live. I feel like it renders his recorded work irrelevant and I don’t mean that his albums are lacking. His live performance is just that lovely.
Next up was Mason Jennings. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan. His music just does nothing for me, I had hoped it would have a little more kick live, but wasn’t feeling it.. So I made my way back out to Pearl Street and the Lazy Dog, where Oakhurst were rocking the room. I love a high-energy set and this was it.
Closing out the night at Boulder Theater, personal favorites The Head and the Heart. I think this band is an excellent festival choice. They give the sort of live performance that lifts a room.
These folks were in fine form this evening and I relaxed and enjoyed their talent. I was struck by how lovely the vocals are as they rang through the theater. My favorite moment came from “Rivers and Roads”.

These photos are honestly so gorgeous. Some of your best work, I think.
