Falling For Fort Frances

This song creeped up slowly on me. It took a moment- I thought: “That piano hook is pretty cool” then “Hey, I dig the vocals” and before I knew it, I was sad the song was over and now it’s stuck in my head. It doesn’t hurt that that freaky genius Sam Kassirer has his name on the project (you’re probably familiar with Sam’s work with Josh Ritter and Langhorne Slim).
I did some digging on Fort Frances and found this line in their bio which has me convinced:
If you listen closely to the album, you will discover some of the hidden secrets of what it means to make a record: trumpets in the open New England air, lampshades substituted for drums, dog barks and a continuing directional thread that runs between each of its 10 songs.
