Do Something: Sleepy Vikings publicly plea for publicity!

As a grassroots kind of blog, projects like Kickstarter, and especially the bands who use them, are very near and dear to our hearts. So when our friends Sleepy Vikings (we’ve talked about them recently here and here) announced that they’d set up a Kickstarter project to help them hire a publicist, we immediately got on board. And I don’t just mean that we got on board in a cheerleadery “way to go!” way (though we did that, too), I mean we got on board and became a backer:
We wouldn’t ask you to do anything that we wouldn’t do ourselves, so we’re asking you (yes, you) to become a backer (do it HERE). We’re not asking you to give as much as we did (we actually wish we could give more, but we’re about as broke as the band is right now); Kickstarter allows you to give any amount, starting at a single dollar ($1) – so really, anyone can do this. The band’s list of rewards for backing is pretty sweet, too – you could get a special limited edition cassette of their debut album They Will Find You Here (which is really awesome – more on that in next week’s review), a night of mini-golf, a t-shirt, poster, even a house concert.
But don’t do it just for the loot. Do it for the benefit of helping a talented band succeed. Without our support, they may never tour with The Jonas Brothers, and then we would all suffer. Okay, in all seriousness, this is important. The project is just over 10% funded and has less than a month to go.

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing how to support the rise of this band. I’m sure they’d get there on their own, which is something I already believe after listening to “Calm”, but we can definitely rally together and help get them their faster.
