I Dream in Colour’s Tracks to Wake Up To

I Dream in Colour (those Essex lads with the really skinny jeans and the matching pointy shoes that we quite like) are off for a few live European dates and lucky London get the chance to see them headline at the Barfly on March 18 (tickets here – get on it). Luckier still, lead singer Rich decided to take over our top five. Lovely jubbly.

1. Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames – ‘Sunny’
This is such a great tune. It’s got to be the best tune ever written about the sun. It has a great feel and great lyrics, ‘thank you for the sunshine bouquet.’ Open your curtains to this bad boy. It really doesn’t get much better.

2. The Beach Boys – ‘Wouldn’t it be Nice’
It’s a piss take how much this tune can make me smile. It’s about love in its simplest form, ‘wouldn’t it be nice if we were older, then we wouldn’t have to wait so long.’ It puts me an instantly good mood this little fella. Love love love it.

3. Stevie Wonder – Living for the City
Absolutely killer tune. Fix your tie to this bad boy. Get dressed, do something with a sense of purpose and do it with attitude. Such a great vocal – one of my favourite vocals EVER.

4. The Beatles – ‘Drive My Car’
This is another feel-good tune. They all are. Who wants to wake up to a fucking ballad? Not I. I wanna play these real loud and crack on. I’m a big fan of The Beatles later stuff but Rubber Soul was definitely a turning point and this album has a completely different to feel to all of their previous albums. It’s so creative. Must’ve been all the weed and mushrooms eh?

Drive My Car

5. The Doors – ‘L.A. Woman’
When I used to have a proper job I’d stick this tune on in the car. It’s the best driving song ever! Especially in the summer. Windows down, bang this one out proper loud on the way to work. Such a great great tune. Probably my favourite Doors record. Definitely one for the morning sun.

05.- The Doors – L.A. Woman

That was an incredibly solid selection. ‘Like’ I Dream in Colour on the Facebook and don’t forget to get your Barfly tickets, because it’ll be pretty tough to squeeze yourself into one of their gigs soon. As stated before, I was entirely captivated by them live when I first saw them play, we like them and we think you should too.
