Five with Five

For this Friday, you get a meta list: five songs with the word five in the title.
- Poe – Five and a Half Minute Hallway
A great song from a great album. I love concept albums (when well done, of course) and this is always one that stands out. Based around her brother’s horror novel, House of Leaves, and containing posthumous recordings from her father, understandably has a haunting
undertone.

- 5678 – Fake Problems
From another album that I absolutely love, “5678″ is impossibly catchy (just try to resist it). This track is a bit of an experiment for the band and they pass
with flying colors. This track is funky and features falsetto vocals.
- Five String Serenade – Mazzy Star
The beauty of Mazzy Star’s work is undeniable. This track is simple and sweet and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

- Five-O – James
A fine example of vintage James, this song is hypnotic. As it builds on itself I get buried further and further in the music.
- 5 Years Time – Noah and the Whale
I have a lot of love for Noah and the Whale and couldn’t be more excited for their new album. I’ve spent a lot of time listening to their previous releases, this track included. I would describe the style as “gloom pop”, which as you can imagine is incredibly refreshing. Stellar vocals from both Charlie Fink and Laura Marling make this even greater.
