Live: Polly & The Billets Doux

I was invited to see Polly & The Billets Doux at the Chalk Farm, North London pub, The Enterprise and despite the gig promoter being incredibly rude and unprofessional, I was given a great show and promptly fell in love with their infectious jazzy blues numbers. The band have been featured on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music as well as charting in the top 20 Indie singles and they’re incredibly busy playing festivals up and down the country.
I love it when you see a band and you can tell in their faces how much they’re enjoying the show, the bass player closing his eyes at several points to take in the moment and Polly stepped up on stage and perfomed barefoot. The Enterprise is known for being a hot venue and it was a particularly warm day but yet they gave it their all and went for it, giving a long set and the crowd shouted for more. In the end, the audience persuaded the sound engineer for Polly to do a beautiful acoustic set singing a 50s-esque number in the middle of the floor.
If you’re heading to The Big Chill festival, catch them on August 6th on the Solar Stage, their performances are fun and one that you won’t forget (particularly when Polly takes over the lead guitarist’s job so he can play another instrument).
