Album Review: The Autumn Film: The Ship and The Sea

Written by Tiffiny  //  March 16, 2010  //  Features, Records  //  No comments

image from whatstheruckus.typepad.com The heavily anticipated sophomore album from Colorado based The Autumn Film is finally here.

The Ship and the Sea begins with the heart wrenching “Roll Over Me”, full of powerful imagery and music that pulls you right down with it. The second track is the jazzier “Always the Same”. Tifah’s vocals are perfectly layered, echoing the song back on itself.

Each song is a work of art, each so element is carefully constructed, as if years of work went in to making it just right. The instrumentation is exquisite and Tifah’s voice is as clear and unique as ever. This band operates like a well oiled machine. These cinematic anthems of love, worked through metaphors of the sea, are stunning. The Autumn Film have definitely evolved to a more confident, solid place. This album is a fantastic listen.
